Loose Lips Sink Ships

When navy seal Richard Marcinko wanted to infiltrate navy bases he would go to the local bars. There he would drink and mingle and in the process steal someone's base pass. Though I am not intending to break into a naval, base I wanted to see what I could do in a modern setting.
I went to a local bar and grill. Very pretty bartender so of course you have the local idiot trying to pick her up. I listened to the conversation. I got his and her first name. They are friends on facebook. She has a boyfriend in another country. With just this info alone I was able to go onto facebook. I located him and his home page. No privacy settings. I got his last name. When he braggs about his SUV and house and how he is going out of town next week. Youre lucky, I am not going to pay a visit. Through his friends list I can locate her. I find her profile. No privacy settings. I find out her boyfriend. What country he is in and what university he is attending. So when you go visit him. I might come visit the house if I was an asshole. I now know you live alone. If I was a pyscho stalker, I could easily come make her life hell.
So what is it? To much hubris? We want everyone to like us? I need a friend. What would make someone forget about their personal safety and leave themselves so open to harm? Why would someone leave such information open to someone with a computer? Why talk so loud in a bar that everyone can hear what you are saying. You dont know me. Shit you see me on a bar stool once a week. Does that mean you should trust me now?  Tell me your darkest secrets. Why do you use a picture of yourself as a profile picture? So I can more easily identify that is your profile?
I remember seeing proganda posters from world war 1 and 2. Loose lips sink ships. And like then so it is today but on a more deadlier and personal note. So watch what you say and to whom in a public setting and on social media outlets. And like always check your six.
